August 2007 New Financial Services OBA

From the blog of Mike Walker - Architecture Strategist, Financial Services, Architecture Strategy Team
Microsoft Corp
.

My visit to Australia had many surprises. One was a new OBA that was developed by one of our partners Dataract. This is truly a "Diamond in the Rough". I have to give them a "plug" because they are offering a great new OBA that leverages both our MOSS platform and the financial services vertical business processes. Look for them on OBA Central as well, they will be added shortly.

June 2007 e5 Workflow for SharePoint 2007 released and in production

The changes in the SharePoint architecture enabled Dataract to re-engineer all of the user interfaces to e5 Workflow. The result is a comprehensive configuration structure allowing trained business analysts the ability to build very sophisticated process management solutions. The refined end user workflow interface has also been refined allowing easy customisation of interfaces to suit every business style.

Key elements of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) have also been incorporated into the e5 Workflow solution layer. These include Forms Server, Federated Search and Windows Workflow Foundation.

Several of our customers are deploying e5 Workflow and MOSS as internet business portals with their customers participating directly in the workflows. Both e5 Workflow and MOSS support a server based licensing model for external users. The market has now moved significantly and building C2B and B2B workflow solutions just became easier and considerably less expensive than the traditional market offerings.

June 2007 AHM revamps their health insurance solution using e5 Workflow and SharePoint

AHM have been a Dataract client since 2002 and recently decided to leverage the e5 Workflow and underlying SharePoint solution across the organisation. The first step was to migrate several million images and workflow items from the legacy system to the new structure. The workflow metadata was enriched to suit the e5 Workflow structures and the images converted to PDF and stored in SharePoint libraries. AHM's private health insurance business is now successfully operating on e5 Workflow.

AHM has identified an aggressive strategy for constantly improving business processes and compliance across the organisation. As a result of this strategy the combined AHM and Dataract teams have been given no time off with the next improvement project already underway.

Congratulations to the AHM team for yet another successful project delivered with their customary professionalism.
